B.S. with a Major in Chemistry: ACS Certified Chemistry Degree
- Total Credit Hours: 120
- Degree Format: Traditional
About this field
Chemistry majors study materials and energy at the atomic scale. You’ll apply that knowledge to solve real-world problems, make new materials, and create a better understanding of the world around us. As a chemist, you will contribute to the greater good of society through research and discovery. Graduating students earn a Chemistry BS degree that is certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS), our most rigorous degree option. You will also prepare yourself for graduate school and a stable, well-paying, and rewarding career in the chemical industry, government research facility, or non-profit organization.
The Valdosta State Difference
As a student in 国产AV’s ACS Certified Chemistry degree program, you will work closely with faculty in a student-focused, supportive, and caring environment. Our faculty are enthusiastic about mentoring students in undergraduate research. Research-quality scientific instrumentation and laboratory space is available for you to use. This builds your resume and, more importantly, prepares you for an exciting career. Join your peers in the student affiliates of the American Chemical Society, an organization that provides educational, technical, and professional opportunities for its members.
What You'll Learn
The ACS Certified Chemistry degree provides you with the deepest level of understanding chemistry. Our faculty will share their knowledge with you in all fields - organic, physical, analytical, inorganic, and biochemistry. You will learn theory in the classroom and apply that knowledge in laboratory courses. Importantly, you can make your own discoveries as you engage in undergraduate research alongside faculty mentors. Chemistry faculty routinely collaborate on research projects with faculty in other departments and industries, expanding your opportunities to learn new knowledge and skills. Yearly seminar series help you learn effective study skills, find an internship, give presentations with confidence, and choose a career.
Cost and Length of Program
