To register and receive badges after completion that typically takes 2-3 weeks per course, USG faculty can sign-up . University System of Georgia Facilitating Adult Learning Online Training Course

This course is designed for USG faculty who will be teaching adult learners and online courses. The course will help you develop foundational knowledge in adult learning theories and principles, review considerations and methods for integrating adult learning principles into your teaching strategies, and provide you with some techniques for applying those strategies to your online courses. Additionally, through this course design, we have attempted to model best practices for creating and facilitating online courses for adult learners.

eLearning’s BlazeVIEW 101 and Teaching Remotely Website

What: Basic info and digital tutorials for using BlazeVIEW and teaching online can be found on BlazeVIEW 101 and on the Center for eLearning’s website about Teaching Remotely. All 国产AV faculty are enrolled in BlazeVIEW 101, a depository of resources that continues to be updated and includes, for example, how to use Collaborate Ultra, an “Ask the Expert” discussion forum for pedagogical support from peer faculty, and experiential learning online like virtual science labs.

BlazeVIEW/GoVIEW 101: Introduction to D2L Brightspace

This workshop will serve as an introduction to the Integrated Learning Platform D2L Brightspace (Referred to locally as BlazeVIEW if you teach for 国产AV or GOVIEW if you teach for a collaborative program). This workshop will cover some Brightspace basics, including: 

  • Logging into the System
  • Exploring the System’s Various Features
  • Creating Course Content
  • Managing Course Offerings
  • An Overview of the more widely used tools

BlazeVIEW/GoVIEW: Gradebook

This workshop covers setting up and using the Gradebook in BlazeVIEW/GoVIEW. 

  • Participants will be able to set up a complete basic Gradebook in Brightspace.  
  • Participants will be able to enter grades and feedback in Gradebook.  
  • Participants will have a basic understanding of how Gradebook works in Brightspace.

Introduction to Qualtrics Survey Tool (Workshop Option)

Qualtrics is a web-based survey tool that facilitates survey creation, distribution, and data monitoring/collection.  The survey tool is available to all faculty, staff, and students. This introductory course will cover the following:

  • Creating a basic survey
  • Adding items to the survey
  • Overview of the different question-types
  • Adding display logic to the survey
  • Adding skip logic to the survey
  • Adding collaborators to the survey
  • Changing default settings
  • Options for distributing the survey

Introduction to Kaltura

Kaltura is a video recording, storage, and distribution tool made available through D2L Brightspace. Users can access it directly through BlazeVIEW. This workshop will inform you on the basics of Kaltura including the following:

  • Uploading Videos
  • Using CaptureSpace to create quality lecture recordings
  • Ordering Captions
  • Using Insert Stuff to embed videos in D2L
