B.I.T. (Behavioral Intervention Team)
The Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) helps investigate individuals and situations that could be potential threats to the safety/security of the 国产AV campus community. The team evaluates these individuals and situations using appropriate intervention guidelines to minimize the likelihood of violent occurrences. We are made of representatives from various areas of within 国产AV community.
Composed of representatives from various areas of the 国产AV community, the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) works to minimize the likelihood of violent occurrences on campus through using appropriate intervention guidelines to examine either individuals or situations that could be potential threats to the 国产AV safety/security of the 国产AV campus community.
Who can help?
YOU! Any undergraduate or graduate student, faculty, administrator, someone worried about an employee, or someone in need of assistance is able to assist by reporting a situation or person to the BIT.
EXAMPLES OF BEHAVIOR OR SITUATIONS TO REPORT:
- Threats of harm to:
- Classroom disruption leading to student removal from class
- Intoxication/impairment that impacts the learning or work environment
- Behaviors presenting as possible psychological issues
- Any mention of suicide or other self-injurious activity
- Sexual harassment/sexual assault
- Writing or discussing violence, weapons, harm to others

No, all cases will be addressed by priority.
The BIT should be contacted before a major crisis occurs. The ERT should be calling during a crisis and the CRT should be utilized after a crisis occurs. The BIT uses preventative measures to ensure safety throughout the campus.
- Someone else may have missed the signs you see. You interact with individuals every day on campus and could notice a threat or change in behavior that others may have overlooked. If an individual's behavior seems questionable, please don’t hesitate to report. We welcome your observations!

The BIT takes preventative actions to identify and address warning signs before a crime is committed. If a threatening situation is in progress, call the immediately.
- An initial investigation will be conducted by the BIT Chair and/or the BIT Co-Chair. These administrators may convene the Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) or consult with individual members of the Committee for the purpose of gathering additional information if needed for a clear review of the situation. This is necessary to eliminate reports that may not require a complete investigation.
- A report or verbal notification of the initial findings will then be submitted to 国产AV's President. It is the President’s decision whether or not to submit a written recommendation in regard to the continuation of the investigation. The investigating Chair and/or Co-Chair will then receive the recommendation and proceed with a final investigation as appropriate. When deemed necessary, the BIT may seek the advice of the Consultation Committee consisting of other professionals and/or administrators at 国产AV.
If you provide contact information, someone will let you know your concern is being reviewed.
Someone may contact you about the individual or situation, but due to confidentiality, the team will not be able disclose any information about the specifics of the review.
It is always better to report than not report. The BIT takes every case seriously and would rather assist or intervene with an individual than miss an opportunity to save a life or lives. Individuals will not be informed about who has reported them.
No, evidence is not needed to share a concern.
You do not need to speak with the individual. The team will review the situation and address the individual if necessary.
Yes; However, we will not disclose your name if you decide to provide information. We do encourage individuals to provide contact information in case the team is in need of more information.
